Partcipants in this session will gain information about brain structure and function. The impact of stress on the brain and learning wil become clearer. Teachers will acquire insights into strategies for concrete, constructive, creative education for young children that reflect developmentally appropriate practice and connections to theories in child development. They will leave with ready-to-apply techniques for their classroom. |

Understanding and addressing shyness in the classroom is not a topic which is much discussed. As professionals in the field of young children's education we aim at maximizing the realized potential of every child. Thus the goal of this session is to understand the challenges faced by shy children in our classroom and help early childhood practioners review strategies for addressing the physical, socioemotional and cognitive features of shyness. This effort will strengthen developmentally appropriate teaching techniques. |

Teacher attitude toward teaching and learning greatly determine how meaningfully the whole child and its developemnt is addressed. A responsive teacher mindset that is flexible and resourceful will generate a sense of joyous harmony within the entire classroom, embracing the teacher, the learner and the enviorment.
Examining the mental locks to creativity opens up a new understanding about how to teach young children creatively and responsively. Teachers at all levels will gain insights into removing hidden biases that block their own potential as well as that of their students. the strategies used in the session will demonstrate rather than preach. Theorists such as Vygotsky, Montessori, Piaget, Dewey will be validated anew in the light of creativity theory. The paradign shifts made will unleash a new power within participants! |

This session is based, among others, upon the research on language devlopment, done by Ron Lally and Fred Genesse and also that of Gomez and Gomez. It will provide an insight into the structure and function of language learning and dual language acquisition in the earliest stages of young children's lives. It will emphasize 'do's and 'dont's for language enrichment by teachers to address the achivement gap and also remove myths about bilingiualism. Educators will leave feeling more ready and more equipped role models for young learners! |

The session will provide current information about brain developemnt and its relationship to stress in children. Teachers at all levels will gain insights into strategies for stress-free education for young children. The techniques used in the session will demonstrate rather than preach. Hands-on activities will make them more convinced and competent about using developmentally appropriate play practices. Theorists such as Vygotsky, Montessori, Piaget, Dewey will be validated anew in the light of current brain research. It will provide brain-smart classroom strategies that early childhood professionals can use right away! |

This session will explore the uinque tips, trickis, traits and techniques to help educators look beyond the surface of their classrooms at 5 'E's.
These are Encorsagement, Energy, Empathy, Equilibium, and Excellence. Educators evolve as teaching progresses. The effectiveness of their efforts grows with experience and the ever-expanding search for exciting new levels of knowledge, skill and ability. Let's explore the five "E"s of effective educating. |

While every teacher is hired on the basis of sound qualifications and maybe prior experience, the new experience gained in each position is a journey the teacher undertakes as he/she progresses forward. This on -the-job experience warrants a deeper understanding and perspective amongst professionals for self-awareness, realistic self-expectations, appropriate guidance and positive, proactive, peak performance!
The main objective of this session is to look within and face ourselves squarely in the face and place ourselves within the stage we are in. We can then grow more effectively forward. |

| Once Bitten Twice Shy-Toward a More Appropriate Response to Biting |
This is an insightful session for infant, toddler, and preschool teachers to examine the causes and startegies for the biting behavior of young children. The focus of the session will be firstly, to define biting and understand why toddlers bite; secondly, to name strategies for preventing biting and for responding to biting; and lastly, to recognize inappropriate teacher responses to biting and know when professional help is needed.
Delving deeper to create sensitivity and workling toward appropriate responses to our children, teachers will feel empowered to address as well as prevent this behavior. |
